Herbert Wallace Schneider was born on March 16, 1892, in Berea, Ohio. He studied under John Dewey at Columbia University where he received his Ph. D. in philosophy, later he became John Dewey's teaching assistant. In 1928 and 1937 Schneider was a research fellow in Italy, and made a careful study of fascism, its roots, and expression in Corporate State theory.
